Prof. Dr. Salmiah Kasolang has devoted her life to the pursuit of beneficial knowledge, nurturing students, advancing scholarship, and serving the community with sincerity and humility. Guided by Islamic values and a deep commitment to excellence, her journey stands as a testament to the belief that true success lies not only in achievement, but in leaving behind knowledge that continues to benefit others.

She has dedicated her life to the pursuit of beneficial knowledge, academic excellence, and service to society. For nearly three decades, she has served Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM) with distinction, beginning her academic career in 1995 and steadily assuming leadership roles that have shaped education, research, and institutional development.

An accomplished educator, researcher, and administrator, she has served as Deputy Dean (Research and Networking), Dean of the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, Rector of UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang during the COVID-19 pandemic, and Assistant Vice Chancellor (Entrepreneurship) at the Malaysian Academy of SME & Entrepreneurship Development (MASMED). Throughout every appointment, she has championed innovation, continuous quality improvement (CQI), and a culture of excellence while remaining grounded in integrity, humility, and faith.

Her academic expertise spans tribology, hydrodynamic lubrication, ultrasonic measurement, fluid mechanics, biomimetics, Total Quality Management, Entrepreneurships , and engineering education. As the leader of the Tribology for Transportation Industry research group, she has supervised more than 30 postgraduate researchers, published over 120 scholarly works including three books, secured significant research funding, and shared her expertise through international conferences and professional engagements across Asia.

Beyond her academic accomplishments, Prof. Salmiah believes that knowledge is an amanah—a trust to be shared for the benefit of others. Her journey reflects a lifelong commitment to nurturing future engineers, advancing meaningful research, and serving the community with sincerity, compassion, and unwavering dedication.
