Amanat Rektor UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang 2022

Global Competency, Synergy and Values

The Amanat Rektor UiTM Cawangan Pulau Pinang 2022 was delivered as the university community prepared to move into the endemic phase following the disruptions of COVID-19. It called for renewed determination and collective energy, beginning with a simple but purposeful mindset: “Ceria, Fokus dan Bertenaga” — cheerful, focused and energetic. Rather than treating the annual address as a routine institutional event, staff and students were encouraged to renew their niat, remain positive and bring their full energy to the responsibilities entrusted to them.

Strategically, the address aligned UiTMCPP’s direction with the priorities of the Ministry of Higher Education and UiTM’s aspiration to become a Globally Renowned University (GRU 2025). Global Competency remained central to this journey, supported by the approach of “Reset, Recover and Restore.” The address emphasised that global competence involved more than institutional rankings or international visibility; it required continuous development of values, attitudes, behaviours and skills, alongside high-impact research, international collaboration, graduate employability and institutional performance.

A recurring message was the importance of synergy rather than working in isolation. Academic disciplines, researchers, administrators, student leaders and different parts of the university were encouraged to collaborate and combine their strengths to create greater impact. This collective approach had already contributed to significant achievements in 2021, including a 6-star i-UiTM performance with 96% achievement, together with accomplishments in innovation, sports and other areas. These successes were presented not as an endpoint, but as momentum to be sustained and strengthened.

Yet the central message extended beyond strategies, KPIs and physical development. The address returned institutional excellence to its moral and spiritual foundations through UiTM’s enduring motto, “Usaha, Takwa, Mulia.” Three simple reminders were offered for building a healthier and more meaningful workplace: strengthen our relationship with Allah, reduce gossip and negativity by directing our thoughts and actions towards what is good, and nurture ukhuwah and genuine affection for one another. Strong relationships and sincere goodwill were described as a “magnet rezeki”—creating an environment in which people, organisations and communities can flourish together.

Ultimately, the Amanat Rektor 2022 conveyed that strategies, infrastructure and performance indicators alone cannot create an excellent university. Sustainable institutional achievement depends upon people who are competent, united and amanah—people who work with energy and purpose while remaining grounded in values, taqwa and care for one another.
